In the Garden - for voice, film, violin & electronics - was commissioned for the 2009 Bath Festival event: On The Edge of Life at St Michael’s Church. With director Chris Daniels and violinist Preetha Narayanan.
Inspired by contemporary responses to the Rapunzel fairytale: a solo violin wanders through its own captured echoes and whispered fragments of the Grimms’ tale, as our eyes explore a world of green gardens and tall towers.
Highwalking - screen dance short - was created in collaboration with director Jacob Hobbs and dancer Elsa Petit with vocals recorded by soprano Emma Brown.
Engaging with themes of urban frustration, splendour and joy, the film was shot on the Barbican’s High Walk and premiered at the Circuit Soup film festival 2010.
Acid Reality - film short - was created in collaboration with filmmakers Hayden Bannochie and Carlos Mancebo on a theme of acid rain in Sao Paulo. Celluloid films of the cityscape were dipped in sulphuric acid to produce a rainbow of distorted images. In a similar manner, cassette tapes of Bossa Nova were also dipped in acid, played back and the results recorded digitally. These elements were then interwoven to create a drama of dissolution and rebirth - the cityscape and bossa nova band dissolving in a torrent of rainbow hues.
The film was premiered on the 12th of October 2008 at LSO St Luke’s as part of the Mapmaking event.
