:: Dahlia ::

Dahlia -  dance collaboration with choreographer Letizia Mazzeo and dancer Elsa Petit - was created for The Place Resolutions! 2011.

Dahlia lives alone in a world of her own imagining, of mundane routines punctuated with episodes of wild fantasy. Reading words from a dictionary, her misunderstandings are vividly enacted through a variety of expressive means - dance, music, sound and projection - each time shedding a little light on the character of the lonesome protagonist. Gradually the realities and fantasies begin to blur, the walls of her world heading toward collapse - will Dahlia escape her strange prison or be forever trapped?

:: Re Noir ::

Re:Noir - dance collaboration with choreographer Jacob Hobbs - for female trio, tenor saxophone and electronics. The work was premiered at the Robin Howard Dance Theatre in March 2009 with saxophonist Ellie Steemson.

Inspired by film noir and all its ambiences, stock characters and clichés: our goal for the project was to capture and distill this essence of noir to create an abstract narrative of concentrated emotions and impressions. Taking the saxophone as the sound at the heart of noir, the score pits the solo player as bold protagonist: fighting the good fight in a world of electronic echoes.

:: In the Garden ::

In the Garden - for voice, film, violin & electronics - was commissioned for the 2009 Bath Festival event: On The Edge of Life at St Michael’s Church. With director Chris Daniels and violinist Preetha Narayanan.

Inspired by contemporary responses to the Rapunzel fairytale: a solo violin wanders through its own captured echoes and whispered fragments of the Grimms’ tale, as our eyes explore a world of green gardens and tall towers.
